Bournemouth Academy Uganda – Dana Cup Denmark 2022
The overall vision of this project is to provide a fantastic opportunity for the orphaned children of Ibun School.
Providing a focus in their short lives, by working together as a team and to achieve fulfilment and self-confidence, to help enrich their lives.
The Dana Cup will unite young football players, their families and friends in a perfect and safe environment, to offer one of the biggest football and social experiences.
This is a place where young football players, boys and girls between 11 and 19 years of age meet to participate in Denmark's largest sporting event and the World's most international youth football tournament.
It is also a place where many up and coming football stars meet before they are known on the world stage……Brian Laudrup and Andrea Pirlo, to name but two.
Background:
Bournemouth Academy Uganda (Coach Kizza Joshua) contacted me on Twitter in October 2020.
Kizza is a very keen Cherries supporter and has been for a number of years, originally through his relatives.
I suggested setting up a GoFundMe page in October 2020, to enable help for the orphans to wear AFC Bournemouth kit, due to their allegiance to the Football Club and in particular to AFCB Captain Steve Cook, who has personally supported this project.
A report on BBC South Today highlighted the project and Steve Cook's support.

During March 2021, I set up an additional, separate GoFundMe Page to facilitate donations for the essential repair and rebuild of the defective Water Pump and Pit Latrines at the orphanage.
Following generous donations, I am pleased to report that the Water Pump repair and Pit Latrine rebuild work have now all been completed and are in use.
Recent donations have also realised the completion of work to form additional accommodation for orphans, to be called the 'Dean Court Dormitory' which is underway at present.
Global interest has just grown..........
To date, donations totalling around £11,000 have been received and all spent to improve the quality of life in Bugembe for the orphans.
Bournemouth Academy Uganda coach Kizza Joshua’s big ‘Dream’ is to achieve a 'footballing-aim' of travelling to a Youth football tournament in Europe, such as the Dana Cup, in Denmark, with his Teams.
This New ‘Go Fund Me Page’ aim is to provide essential logistical resources, additional quality equipment and football kit, to inspire the 20 orphaned children knowing that the ‘AFCB family’ and also the wider footballing-loving community, care about them, their dreams, their aspirations and also give them some long-distance love, care and focus in life.
To enable, may be just one orphan, to become a future, top level professional footballer in the UK, hopefully with AFC Bournemouth.
What a massive achievement that would be for the community at Ibun Orphanage School in Bugembe, Jinja, Uganda.
Detail budget costings have been drawn up of £25,190 in total, showing the magnitude and immense work we are now planning and putting in place, to be completed over the coming year, to achieve the registration deadline of April 2022 - For the Dana Cup in July 2022.
Initially, 22 National ID's, Passports and Visas, all have to be obtained for the travelling party, from the Authorities in Uganda and also Denmark costing approximately £4,870 (our URGENT initial Goal)
22 Return flights from Entebbe Airport to Copenhagen, then internally onto Aalborg Airport for the tournament, are costed at £12,540
The Dana Cup 2022 Entrance Fee, Accommodation, Food and Transfers for the 22 travelling party are costed at £7780
*Pre-Registration has already been submitted to Dana Cup 2022, for the 'adventure' to begin*......
