Bournemouth Sports FC: Help support our teams!

Donation protected
Bournemouth Sports FC is a FA Charter Standard Development Club, which offers in excess of 350 people of all ages and abilities the opportunity to develop their love of football in a friendly, inclusive environment at our home ground of Chapel Gate on the outskirts of Bournemouth.

We need your help to stay in existence.

Our men’s Saturday teams have benefited from significant growth over the past year enabling us to have entered 4 teams into the Dorset Premier League and Dorset Leagues. They play competitively at all levels with a true community spirit and all had healthy positions within the leagues prior to games abruptly ceasing this season.

These teams provide the pathway for our youth section to aspire to play adult football and are a key component in keeping grassroots football alive locally for both now and the future. The number of adult men's teams playing locally has fallen by over 50 within the last decade, partly as a consequence of escalating costs.

The negative economic impact of the current Covid-19 pandemic on many businesses and individuals is clear and widespread. The impact on sport providers such as BSFC is similarly damaging. This has cast a cloud over the future of these teams moving forward and the financial stability needed to sustain them.

The planned fundraising activities from March to date have been scuppered with uncertainty as to when, or if, we will be able to do so before the start of next season. The teams have been innovative with fundraising in a “lockdown“ environment and have been marginally successful but sadly have been unable to raise as much as is needed to cover costs.

We are faced with meeting a number of ongoing bills and future commitments. Without any income for the foreseeable future it is, and will be, a great challenge.

We therefore, want to reach out and appeal to the local and wider community to assist us with generating revenue to help see us through these unprecedented times.  At a time when all charities are suffering and when our attention is rightly occupied by supporting our frontline key workers, we hope that you might also consider supporting BSFC.

The teams want to look forward to next season and your assistance  will help secure the future of our teams.  We feel that in these uncertain times we want to provide certainty to our football family and their supporters.

BSFC and grassroots football needs to continue locally and beyond. Please help us survive by making donations, little or large.

Our social, physical and mental wellbeing benefits from regular participation in sport; without the kind support of sponsors and the general public we cannot exist. The pandemic has made your support crucial to the survival of grassroots clubs like ours.

‘One thing for certain is that, when we start finally to emerge from the current lockdown, sport at grassroots level can and should be part of the solution to bringing communities back together, helping to repair the damage this period has brought to our social fabric, and keeping people fit and healthy.’

Tim Hollingsworth, chief executive of Sport England, May 4, 2020
