Bowel Cancer screening and life saving treatment
Won't go into all the detail but August 2021 was when, after the routine poop screening, Mum was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. After further tests, unfortunately she was diagnosed as also having liver cancer. Alot of appointments, surgeries, along with the emotions that go with it, Mum was and is a true warrior and is now cancer free.
Back in April I decided to set myself a challenge of doing a half marathon, just for a challenge to myself. Rob decided he would also do it (after initially saying no chance!) and we have been training hard. On 13th October 2024 we are running the Manchester Half Marathon before training the most I had ever ran was 10km (once!).
Wasn't going to do any sponsorship but thought if Mum can be such a fighter and strong through it all, well a half marathon is nothing compared to that! But will try raise a bit whilst doing it and a few people have asked.
This is to help others get the early diagnosis and have more of a chance of surviving just like my brave Mum.
P.S Make sure you and love ones do the poop tests which come through the post, they DO save lives.
Thank you for your support, Jo & Rob x
