Bowie’s Emergency Surgery Fund

*UPDATE* gofundme goal has changed to reflect the new cost of treatment which has lowered due to the success of his surgery and lack of complications! ❤️ Bowie is safe and out of surgery. My boy swallowed a very large piece of wood that was stuck in his small intestine causing major bruising. No punctures, which is a good thing! The vet was able to remove it with one incision, albeit a large one. He is still in recovery at the animal hospital and I am hoping to have him home as soon as possible. Hi, my name is Skye, I am raising money for emergency lifesaving surgery for my dog Bowie. If you know me, you know my baby boy Bowie, and just how sweet, loving and goofy he is. He is the one thing that gets me out of bed everyday, and I can’t imagine doing this life without him.

A few days ago Bowie got into something he shouldn’t have without my knowledge. Since Friday at 2AM, he has been violently ill almost hourly. He vomited a large object that he had eaten, and every hour after that he continued to vomit bile. He has not been able to eat or sleep for 4 days. He became extremely lethargic, was falling over and his eyes began rolling back in his head on day 2.

Bowie was of course rushed to the Alta Vista Emergency hospital where the team got to work right away to assess his condition. Numerous blood test, X-rays and ultrasounds later it was determined that he has a foreign body object stuck in his small intestine that is creating a blockage. Bowie was immediately placed on fluids, medications and a nasal gastric feeding tube. He was sedated for x rays and ultrasounds, and has undergone the same process twice to assess progress. The hope was that he would pass the object naturally with the help of the food. While these steps allowed the vet to drain excessive fluid from his abdomen, they have not made any further progress, meaning he requires emergency surgery.

Bowie’s only chance at recovery is emergency abdominal surgery to remove the item creating the blockage. The total costs outside of the $3,300 deposit have now amounted to over $8,000, which I unfortunately cannot afford on my own at the moment.

While asking for help is the last thing I want to be doing, I simply won’t be able to save my boy alone.
