Bowman Family Fair Business Fire
Donation protected
Betty and Larry Bowman have run their food booths at the fair for 45 years. In the middle of the night on April 11th their 2 large food booths "The Malt Shoppe and The Chicken House" burned to the ground. They started the fair 45 years ago in an AFrame booth selling homemade bread. They grew their business over the years and have employed hundreds of Vancouver students, families, school bus drivers, teachers and many more. They have sponsored little league teams and given back to many in the Vancouver community. This is their sole source of income and live off the budget from the money they earn from the fair and the Home and Garden Show. Many people of the community know them from the local Vancouver Farmer’s Market and their former family restaurant Boppin’ Bo’s. They have lost thousands of dollars in equipment and supplies along with obviously the buildings themselves. In these buildings they stored many of the supplies and equipment from other booths so to keep them safe when not in use. They did not have insurance on these two buildings and need help and support in rebuilding their family business.
We hope you will consider a donation of any kind to help them rebuild and replace their business. Your support is very much appreciated.
Please feel free to share this post and any memory you have of working with the Bowman Family.
Thank You.
We have lowered the donation goal because it looks like the county may pay for the rebuilding of the Bowman’s booth structure and the cleanup and hauling away. What a blessing! They still have lots and lots to replace to be able to start up again and to design a food booth set up. Thank you again for your generous donations! They are eternally grateful to you all and are overwhelmed by the responses they are receiving from their friends and the community.
