In December of 2020, the Boxberger Family made a decision to embark on a new business venture and plant their roots in Tulsa, OK, after starting their family in Olathe, KS over 20 years ago.
After his 50th birthday on Dec. 21st, Mont went in for a prostate exam due to concerns from his annual physical blood work. In January 2021, Mont received the horrible news that he has a very aggressive form of prostate cancer that requires immediate care. Proton therapy has proven 95% effective, but treatment is $50,000, and insurance does not cover the procedure.
As if battling cancer wasn't tough enough while moving his family to a new state, getting his business off the ground, buying a new home, getting ready to put 2 kids through college, etc., in March of 2021 Mont's wife, Linda, had multiple skin cancer spots removed. The doctors notified Linda that her melanoma skin cancer was aggressive and from here on will require her to be seen every three months to monitor for another reoccurrence. She was also informed that since she has had multiple melanomas that she would be referred on to an oncologist. Her situation can be an indicator that other cancers (pancreatic and breast) are definitely a possibility for her.
If anyone knows the Boxberger family, they know Mont and Linda would do anything for anyone without seeking anything in return, so his family members and friends are trying to raise money to help the Boxbergers pay for Mont's proton therapy treatments, and potential future treatments for Linda.
