Hi, we’re Maria Boxler’s sisters, reaching out to you with a heartfelt plea to make a real difference in the life of our brother-in-law, Brendon.

Brendon was living on campus at Kent State University when he was struck by a truck while walking to a friend's house one night. The driver drove away as Brendon fought to stay alive in the middle of the road. That night, he lost so much blood that he almost lost his life. However, the Lord had more in store for him. Brendon explained, “I felt a presence grab me by the shirt and pull me out of the road…it felt like my guardian angel. I wasn’t a religious man, but I felt that force, and it felt like a miracle.” Brendon gave his life over to God shortly thereafter.

Over the next 6 years, he would undergo dozens of surgeries to re-construct his leg and alleviate his debilitating pain. You might not notice or even believe the extent of his pain and injury because he bears it all without complaint. He stood on his own two feet as Maria walked down the aisle to marry him. They now have two boys, ages 20 months and 6 months, and Brendon has been their primary caretaker while pursuing his nursing degree.

Two weeks ago, Brendon’s pain became unmanageable. The doctors discovered a severe bone infection and were able to surgically remove some of it. After weighing the benefits and risks of another surgery, he has chosen to have the infected portion of his foot and leg amputated tomorrow, 2/6/2024.

We are very excited for Brendon and his family to start this new chapter of their lives and are praying that the Lord will provide a way to ease the financial burden. Brendon has called his leg the “million-dollar leg” because of all the medical bills it has caused. Maria is the primary financial provider, and any money donated to this campaign will be used towards medical bills. If the medical bills miraculously get covered, the remaining funds will help cover basic living expenses. We hope God blesses each generous heart that is moved to support this family.
