Boy Scouts Troop 172 Stolen Trailer and Gear
Donation protected
The funds raised in this account will assist the youth in Boy Scout Troop 172 (Munroe Falls, OH) to replace their trailer and camping gear that was recently stolen from their host church. This trailer contained the troop's entire inventory of supplies and materials needed for camping. Camping is a prime source of learning, skill development and outdoor training that will help teach lessons to the youth that will last a lifetime. The troop camps once a month at various locations with 20 - 40 youth and adults attending. Funding would be used to purchase the following items which are now lost: 16 foot trailer, 8-10 tents, ground tarps, Cast Iron cookware (skillets, griddles, dutch ovens), assorted sizes of camp stoves, chimney starters, cooking utensils, and accessories, cleaning gear, cook kits (pots, pans), pop-up canopies, propane tanks, 5 gallon water coolers, ropes, coolers, scout patrol boxes, folding tables, pull carts, tools (axes, hatchets, hammers, saws, shovels, buckets), lanterns, cots and various other misc camping items. Despite the terrible event and loss, the youth are seeing the incredible support that this community has for its youth. The Boy Scout Oath states in part to "help other people at all times..." and they are seeing this played out in a very real and tangible way. The Scout law also states in part that a Scout is helpful, friendly, and kind. This is a visible lesson for them to see. The funding will hopefully serve many youth for several years to come and the youth and parents are extremely grateful for any support that is given. Thank you (Lee Thomas - Asst Scoutmaster & Thomas Scarberry - Treasurer)
