Boycie’s Bridge Dog Rescue
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gareth and I'm raising funds Boycie’s Bridge dog rescue charity which is a very small local rescue based in Stafford.
They take in a small number of homeless dogs from the area and find them new homes.
They are voluntary and totally non profit.
Here's a recent update of the amazing work they do.
We thought we’d give you an idea of part of our vet bill, to show how much some of the dogs we take in actually cost.
So this is just 2 cases.
Firstly Rex;
Rex is a gorgeous little 6yr old Frenchy, who came in at the end of last year.
He came in with some breathing difficulties and he was underweight but we thought this may just be down to stress as he was also bringing up a lot of his food. We thought it may be that he was over excited and restless as there were other dogs in the home, so we moved him to a pet free foster.
We became aware that even at rest he was struggling to breathe and we realised it was something that needed addressing quickly.
At one point our vets were so concerned, we thought an oxygen tent may be necessary.
However, with some drugs to help relax him and other meds, he was made stable enough to wait for his surgery. He has his BOAS surgery and he managed really well, however, he was still bringing his food up and so needed reflux meds too.
Thank fully he is now better and gained weight. He is due his castration is a couple of weeks and he will then be adopted by his lovely foster family.
Rex’s Bill came to ‼️£2,682.27‼️
And he still has his castration and another parasite treatment to go!
Millie:
An 11 year old Poodle.
Millie also came in to us at the end of the year. A very sad story of an owner passing away and Millie being neglected by a home that took her on after her owners passing.
She was in such a mess when she came in, so thin, matted, ear and eye infections and so weak she could hardly stand.
She has spent many hours at the vets trying different meds for eyes and ears and although her eyes are now under control and Foster mum Sam has got some weight on her, her ears are still horrendous.
She’s had various different antibiotics as the cultures came back with a few types of bacteria, however, she’s been resistant to the meds and her ears are not clear still.
She had a flush out under anesthetic and we are trying a different type of drops this week, which we are hoping work, as otherwise, she may need the ear canal removed as she can’t continue with this discomfort for much longer.
She is such a sweet girl and shows no sign of being upset or pain, probably because she’s put up with it for so long
Her treatment will continue until she is better and her costs will be covered by us for the rest of her life.
Millies Bill so far is;
‼️£1,593.28‼️
So between them, just these 2 dogs have cost us a whopping
‼️£4,275.55‼️
For such a small rescue, we are drowning in vets bills.
Here’s some photos of the dogs after being pampered at Coton Canines Dog Grooming Salon ❤️
My rescue dog Karlos who we recently gave a loving home to from Boycie’s Bridge.
Come on people, give a few pounds or pennies to support this fantastic organisation.
