Boydie's Texas A&M Band Scholarship

Donation protected
Dr. Boydie E. Fereday Jr., died peacefully at home on July 15, 2015 from kidney disease and cancer. Boydie made a difference in peoples' lives with his sunny disposition and adventurous spirit. His many friends referred to him as their "daily pick-me-up.” Boydie’s credo in life was to be a “contributing member of society - a person who makes a difference.” He certainly was.

Boydie dedicated his life to serving and helping others. He served in the U.S. Army, which took him into the Korean War. He attained the rank of Major and quickly excelled as a leader, a Tank Commander and finally as an Air Force Trained Pilot - all in three years’ time. Later, Boydie was one of the first of only two Pediatric Dentist Specialists in all of Houston.

He was the first in his family to graduate from college, receiving several degrees from both the University of Texas and his beloved Texas A & M University where he was in the Corp of Cadets as well as playing in the Aggie Band.

It was Boydie's wish to help the student/s who also occupied his same chair in the Aggie band playing the clarinet. He worked 5 jobs to be able to attend A&M and  he wanted to help others who is/are pursuing their own maroon and white Texas A&M dreams.

In lieu of flowers for his funeral, or if you just love Texas A&M too, please consider donating to this scholarship fund created in his name.  Our lives will never be the same again without him, but his legacy of optimism, loyalty, hard work, and generosity will live on through this scholarship.

Thank you!
