Boyle County Equine Rescue & Care

On Monday, February 17, 2020 Boyle County Animal Control discovered 14 neglected and malnourished horses without access to adequate feed or water.  After veterinary consultation, 1 horse in extremely poor condition was euthanized. Animal Control has since discovered additional horses on the property in extremely poor condition. This has left nearly 40 horses to be cared for.

There has already been a tremendous outpouring of support from the community to help provide hay, feed and supplies to care for the horses. In order to continue to supply fresh feed, and meet other health care needs, this page has been established to collect funds, allowing those caring for the horses to purchase exactly what they need when it is needed. 

Burkmann Nutrition, a locally owned and operated animal feed and supply store is working with caretakers to provide supplies at discounted prices, ensuring donations are stretched as far as possible. This page has been set up by a Burkmann Nutrition employee to help collect donations from those near and far that wish to help these horses.

Burkmann Nutrition is committed to transparency throughout the Boyle County Horse Rescue project. We recognize that GoFundMe, charges a small fee to use their service, however it is also a secure option for those who wish to contribute online. All available, donated funds from online donations, as well as 100% of donations made at the Burkmann Nutrition Danville store will be used to provide for the horses needs including feed, supplies and veterinary care. In the event that there is money remaining after all horses are re-homed or no longer in the care of the county, remaining funds will be given to the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society.
