Recovering from Domestic Violence & Starting Over
UPDATE: I still owe a little on the car, but I am working and paying as I go.
I am SO VERY GRATEFUL to everyone who helped me realize the dream of owning the PT Cruiser!!! You have changed my life and I LOVE YOU!!!
I tell her EVERY DAY that I love her and am so thankful she is mine!!

Now it is time to get my smile back! As I say below, I need $300 for the down payment. I need $3,000 total, so every little bit will be a giant help.

Recently, I escaped 6 years of domestic violence. I was punched and beaten and laser sighted with / stared down the barrel of a .45 revolver. On a daily basis, I was told I was worthless; called every name in the book; treated as if I was insignificant. I lived in fear every day. While my physical injuries have healed, I still have much recovery to do mentally and emotionally.
I was able to get out, with the help of my Son and a couple of friends, and selling my truck, which was my only means of transportation. I returned to California and am now living with my 72-year-old mother who is almost completely blind, hearing impaired in both ears, and has been displaying signs of the early stages of dementia or Alzheimer's.
My days are spent caring for mom. Cooking, cleaning. laundry, grocery shopping, bills, doctor appointments, prescriptions and medications, pretty much everything. We are in the process of getting approval through our County to get me established as her paid caretaker.
When we need to go on our monthly grocery shopping trip, to mom's doctor appointments, anywhere! we rely on a friend of hers from church. We have to schedule everything around our friend's schedule.
Ever since my Dad showed me the first PT Cruiser, I have wanted one! I love them and he and I talked about having matching cruisers. He died shortly after they made their first appearance, and I have never been able to get one. Obviously, my mother has never driven, nor does she have a vehicle.
We got a new neighbor a couple months ago. He is very cool and has his own story of devastation, as he lost everything in the Camp Fire that obliterated the town of Paradise, California. A few weeks ago, he told me he was going to be selling the PT Cruiser he had bought for his friend, who cannot handle the stick shift due to her legs being affected by diabetes. The photo here is the actual car. It is parked in our driveway right now because he has been having some work done at his place.
So, quite literally, my dream car has been delivered to my door.
My reason for seeking help from you is to be able to purchase this vehicle and pay for the change of title, registration, insurance and to get my California driver's license (I have a valid NV license but, you know). That should be about $2200ish.
I am also including $300 down payment for the dental work I need to get done. In addition to my teeth being significantly damaged from a prescription I took for 3 years, I was punched in the face which broke my front tooth (busted lip is pictured below. The bloody photos and two black eyes are from a different punch in the face which broke my nose.) That, in total, is over $3000 but I would be at least able to put a down payment on it.
Your help would be quite immeasurable. For me and for my mother. We would have the freedom and independence of having our own transportation. Even the simplest things like running out for burgers would be possible. We can only imagine what it is like to not have constant guilt about depending on someone else to take us everywhere! I would also be able to go visit family out of town who I haven't seen since my Dad died!
To have the self-confidence again that comes with independence and also to be able to smile again without covering my mouth, I can't even express what it would mean to me.
I was able to give Norm the down payment on August 9 and with your help, we can complete this transaction and my 50th birthday on the 14th can be VERY HAPPY with the freedom of transportation!
