BPS Solar Powered Mobile Library for Rural Communities

The BPS Solar Energised Internet Library model designed by our Architect Angela Dziedzorm Owusu to be built for rural communities cross West Africa by Builder Project Solutions.

The exclusively solar-energised, mobile and completely independent library will help increase accessibility to education and connectivity across West Africa. It is designed specifically for use in remote rural areas with limited or no access to electricity.

 

Each Solar Powered Internet Library will be built in a 40 foot (12 metre) long shipping container, making them easily transportable by truck to remote areas.

The library can comfortably accommodate 10 learners and a Librarian, and includes several layers of insulation and a ventilation system to ensure a temperate environment is maintained. Each classroom is fitted with a 50-inch electronic E-board, Variety of Books, a Projector, Notebooks and E Books and Laptops with educational interfaces for everyone. All of these devices will be optimised for use in a solar-powered environment.
