The Tibbs Family

Hello I have started this page to help the Tibbs family. I have had the privledge of knowing this family for the last 15 years. Their kids have been active members of theatre at Hobart High and Shawna and Jason have been supporters as well helping with many things. The family has also been involved in a variety of things in the Hobart community! Now they need a little help.
Jason's health has been quite the roller coaster ride with his health the last 2 years.
In 2021 he had a surprise triple bypass. In 2022 they had to put in stents. He was able to return to work for a year but his health declined again and the doctor deemed him unable to work. Currently he has pulmonary edema and mitral valve regurgitation. They are in a catch 22 with fluid on the lungs preventing them from surgery to replace the valve.
This past spring as his health started to take a turn once again, it was determined that his mitral valve is the culpurit. Doctors advised that Jason go on permanent disability and retire early to focus on his health. The challenge is that to process the paperwork for early retirement--he must stop receiving disability. This means approximately 3-4 months with no income, except for the little income the boys bring in to help as well as the limited income Shawna brings home from her part time job. Once his pension kicks in the family will be ok. Last week they received their last disability check and have to find a way to make it through the next 3 months with mounting medical bills, travel expenses, and just normal expenses of a mortgage, utilities etc. This is where every little bit helps.
He is currently at Christ Advocate in Tinley Park. On Tues July 4-he was put on a vent in hopes of giving his lungs a rest. The doctors hope by doing this, they can get the fluid off his body so he can have the much needed surgery. This is very scary though. The goal--get him stable enough to have surgury that will replace his mitral valve. This successful surgery should "fix" much of what is going on. Throughout all of these challenges, Shawna has been navigating some health issues of her own.
If you know the Tibbs family, have worked with them or have been a part of Hobart High Theatre in any way, you are most likely aware of how much they are deserving of this help. When able, you can rest assure that they will return the help by giving back to the community as they always have. If unable to help financially the family appreciates good vibes and prayers!
We will update Jason's condition as these events unfold
