Brackenwood Green Legal Fund

Since the recent attempt by the landowner to erect a fence to surround and block access to the greens, we have been working together on ways to try and protect our treasured amenity. Up to now, we have tried to do what we can with the skills we have in our group. Due to the complicated and specialist nature of this issue, it has become apparent that we need to look outside the group and try and resolve this matter once and for all.

We have been seeking to obtain legal advice from a planning law specialist and a number of possibilities have been raised that might help do this, for example, the possibility of getting the land designated as a public right of way. The issue we have is we are now at a point whereby we must formally instruct them to take on our case. In order to proceed any further, they require payment.

At present, we have been advised it will likely be about £1000 to carry out the legal work we have discussed, but I must stress this is only an estimate and there is obviously no guarantee it will be successful. If it was, it would have such a positive impact to everyone who lives on this estate. To this end, we have set up this GoFundMe page for people to make donations.

Any donations made would only be used for the funding of legal services to help protect the Brackenwood greens. Whilst we are aiming for £1000 this is what we know we need currently. It could be that further advice is needed which we will need to pay for but at this stage, we simply don’t know. If further donations may be needed, we will come back and confirm. Once all legal options are explored, we would return any leftover funds and everyone who has contributed will pay a little bit less, but still share in the overall support.
