Brad Allan - Help After a Stroke
Donation protected
Friends and family, as you may or may not know by now, on March 30, 2022, Brad suffered a series of strokes. As a healthy, active person, you would never expect him to have such a life-altering event. But he did.
He was driving his truck through Boise, ID, loaded up with our motorcycles in the back and on his way to Moab, where I would meet him in a few days. It was time to check off a big box on his bucket list.
I had called him to say good night after he’d been driving for almost 8 hours when suddenly he stopped talking. I could hear labored breathing and a grunt or two, but nothing more for several minutes. After multiple attempts to get him to tell me what was wrong, he said in a very slurred voice, “I don’t know.” He could safely pull over and turn off his truck, so I called 911 and hoped they’d locate him based on my vague knowledge of his location. In just 20 minutes, they’d found him, but he couldn’t say a word.
Life Flight took Brad to Boise, where he spent nearly four days in the ICU and two more days in the stroke ward, cared for by the kindest doctors and nurses. He was released with a large clot in his carotid artery, which will hopefully shrink enough to be stinted soon.
Brad is now under a neurologist’s care back home and is going to speech therapy, where he is re-training his brain to talk and type again. He is tenacious and determined to return to work quickly. Ironically, marketing and communication is his career.
Unfortunately, life-saving interventions are costly. As the bills roll in and Brad’s care continues for many more months, he humbly needs your support. Anything you can donate will be genuinely appreciated. And everything we can do to surround Brad with love is what’s most important so he can stay focused on his recovery.
I believe he’ll someday be back on his bike, riding across this great land and laughing with friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
