Braden's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
On September 2nd, Dad laid their 2 year old son Braden down for a short nap before their 1st day back at work. When they went to wake him up, about an hour after he was laid down, upon entering the room they found Braden in a full seizure that was favoring the left side of his brain. Braden had previous seizures in May that favored the left side of his brain as well. Following that he was diagnosed then with febrile seizure syndrome which are seizures brought on by fevers. EMS was immediately called and he was transported to Hardin Memorial hospital, where they then incubated him, and because of the seriousness of his seizure, they then flew him by helicopter to Louisville "Norton’s Children's.” The family had been out of work previously and cleared up the battle of Covid-19. Unfortunately for Braden he had MIS-C "Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome" which was caused by Covid-19 around a month earlier, and Rhino enterovirus. Due to his seizure, the left side of his brain was severely swollen, and he has no movement on the right side of his body. An MRI was done that showed massive swelling of his left side. They removed the tube on the 5th of September, and thought he was recovering well. He was moved out of PICU. Later that evening he continued to have clustered seizures, dropping his oxygen levels below 70, which is critical. He was sent back down to the PICU at around 4:30am on the 7th, and was monitored by the ICU team for seizures and oxygen. At 10:45am he was considered critical, and needed to be intubated again. From the cluster seizures happening so frequently, another CT scan was done. It showed that the left side of his brain is pushing the right side of his brain into his skull, he may need an emergency surgery to remove bone to let up on the swelling. The Neurosurgeon said they've never seen a Case like this stating that he is showing a sign of a possible stroke. At this point the family is waiting on Cardio, the Neurosurgeon, to examine all possibilities that could very well arise here in the short future. Braden’s liver enzymes are also elevated, and it was found upon examination of the liver, that he also has gallstones. The family at this time could really use all thoughts and prayers, and any donations would definitely be appreciated, the parents will be on unpaid leave from work and still have more children to care for at home. The family was really hesitant about a fundraiser, but facing the long road, and the emergency in front of them they are left with no other options. Thank you for all thoughts and prayers, and donations for Braden. If you can’t donate every share matters too. Thank you all and God bless!
