Bradford Fires
Donation protected
At 11:15pm last night, while sleeping, I got a call from my mom that will forever be ingrained in my mind. “Stephanie…my house is on fire. Can you come in?”
After stopping to wake my brother, I drove into Bradford and saw the flames from the highway. All hope of it being a small contained fire had completely dissipated.
Parking on Bank Street, the closest I could get, I start moving quickly over hoses, around people, and past three burning homes that I have grew up in throughout my childhood.
I find my mother setting in a chair holding her sweet neighbor’s hand. My poor mom sat and watch her childhood home completely burning. Firemen were dragging hoses through the house, smashing windows, and trying to contain THE biggest area of house fires I have ever seen.
Today we have to go into the house and try to salvage anything that isn’t smoke, water, or fire damaged. As heartbroken as I am that my mom has lost so much that she has worked incredibly hard for, I’m even more thankful that she heard the neighbor pounding on her door while she slept.
Our many many thanks go out to all of the fire departments working tirelessly last night, and are asking for prayers for my mom and her neighbors. They lost their homes, some of them got hurt, some lost pets, and all of them lost their worldly possessions.
My family would appreciate anything you could donate if possible, but we ask that you please keep her and her neighbors in your prayers.
