An Opportunity to Help Bradford Woodworking Recover
Donation protected
From friend Jeff Behnke, Altura Furniture:
UPDATE: As we approach reaching the initial goal, I believe that Brad and Sandy could use more help. If you want to give, this site will continue to accept donations for which I am certain they would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve known Brad since we were students at RIT in 1976. Our benches were next to each other. From the start, we became close friends. I was always in awe of his innate skills: his beautiful sketches, impeccable craftsmanship, ultra-efficiency, and wizard-like creativity. His projects were always perfect at every stage. I learned so much just by watching him work, and he was always generous with suggestions, and brainstorming solutions to both technical and aesthetic challenges.
We shared a lifelong dedication to working with wood and making furniture. We lived and breathed this craft for the four years we worked side by side at school, and we’ve both carried that passion forward.
To see Brad’s life’s work interrupted, and the business he and Sandy built and ran together shattered so suddenly by such an event, is heartbreaking.
An Opportunity to Help Brad Recover
Many of you have asked, “How can I help?” in the wake of the devastating fire that took Brad’s beloved workshop barn—a space that was not just his livelihood but a reflection of his passion, craftsmanship, and dedication over the past 45 years. Many of you have come to help clean up the site, made meals, offered equipment and tools, and asked how else you could help. This page was organized by Alexa Ghiz, the daughter of one of Brad’s good customers.
While Brad did have insurance, it falls short of what’s needed to recover fully.
Brad poured his heart and soul into that workshop, crafting not just furniture but pieces of art that so many have cherished. As he faces the challenge of starting over, any support—big or small—will make a meaningful difference.
Please don’t feel obligated to donate. This has been created for those who requested it. If you choose to donate, please consider leaving your email so we can personally thank you for your generosity.
This summer we are considering holding a Spring/Summer Sale Fundraiser to sell the 100+ items that were stored in his show barn and remained undamaged. You’ll be invited by a notice on social media and the Bradford Woodworking website.
Thank you for your kindness and support in helping Brad and Sandy recover from this disaster.
