Save the Bradley American Legion

In the Kankakee River Valley there is a place, an incredibly special place, where an American War Veteran can call home. This place is called the Bradley American Legion Post 766.
In the summer of 1940, a relatively small group of World War I veterans & WW II soldiers who had returned home early from the current war, banded together to build the Bradley American Legion Hall. These gentlemen hauled bricks from the old Kankakee Post Office to build the Legion. Brick by brick, beam by beam, and tile by tile, the building was erected.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a horrid effect on the historic Legion Hall and has put it at risk of closing forever.
Our team is raising money to help with the cost of operations including wages of their small, but committed staff along with any building or equipment repairs and supplies that may be needed to continue operating until they can get back on their feet financially.
We cannot allow this historic and significant building to close!
The Legion is special to everyone; veterans, their families, and the community it supports.
Veterans are the sole reason America is what it is today. These men and women have sacrificed time with their families, put their educations on hold, and even given their lives to ensure that people they do not even know are safe. They are the reason America is “The Land of the Free” and they give meaning to “Home of the Brave”.
It's time to show our gratitude and do everything in our power to keep their home away from home open.
