Brads Chronic Kidney Disease Journey
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Sophie and I’m fundraising for my Dad, Brad Reid, only 49 years old, who is suffering with Chronic Kidney Disease, Glomerulonephritis (IGA), where his Kidneys do not filter the toxins from his blood stream any more and without Dialysis, his life expectancy is 3 days to 3 weeks. Dad has been suffering with this disease for about 2 years now which has turned his life upside down. Early on in this journey he also suffered a Stroke in his left eye which caused him to lose complete vision in that eye. Dad has not been able to work for the last 2 years due to being so unwell from this disease. Just a few of the symptoms that he experiences daily are chronic itching, insomnia, restless legs, extreme shortness of breath which leave him house bound. This leaves dad feeling depressed all the time as he can’t go anywhere, can’t do anything, can’t work, or do any normal things in life to fulfil his happiness as he used to surf, fish, dive and even just go to work. He can’t eat a lot of foods, he is limited to 1 litre of fluid intake per day. He is at high risk of heart failure which leads him to being in and out of hospital very regularly. The cost of living is so high these days, his disability pension barely covers the cost of his rent, food, bills, numerous amounts of medications he has to take every day to keep him alive, transport to and from his home to the hospital for his treatment and the cost of ambulance bills he has recently received due to almost losing his life multiple times in the last few months. I am seeking help from anyone that can and is willing to help in any way they can, donations big or small will be very much appreciated and will help relieve a lot of the financial stress this has on dad and his immediate family. Please if you can help in any way, it will go a long way!
