Brad's New Beginning: Needs Your Support
Donation protected
On August 18, 2018, Brad's entire life changed. After being subjected to years of abuse, Brad was forced to defend himself against his incredibly violent and abusive step-grandfather. As a result, then 15-year-old Brad was arrested and charged as an adult for murder. Brad spent 6 years, 6 months, and 15 days in jail without a bond. While in jail, Brad was subjected to even more hardship. On his 17th birthday, Brad was moved from a juvenile to an adult detention center. There, Brad experienced even more loss: the loss of his freedom, the loss of his youth from the horrors of incarceration – jail riots, fights, deaths, and unsafe living conditions. He was also denied access to any additional educational services, and his last completed grade was 8th.
On March 4, 2025, Brad's case finally reached a jury. After listening to 6 days of evidence of longstanding documented abuse, and hearing about how multiple state agencies failed to save this child when he needed them most, a jury finally stepped in and saved Brad. As a result of their intervention, Brad was found NOT GUILTY of all charges against him.
However, the fight to save Brad is not over. When Brad was released at 21 years old, he had no phone, identification, birth certificate, social security card, clothes, or toiletries. He had no housing, transportation, health insurance, dental insurance, and no money to help him seek out additional educational services. His family is unsupportive.
I am Brad's former defense attorney, Jennifer Cross, and we are asking for help in supporting Brad, to set him up for success for his release. Brad needs everything from basic needs – clothing and food, funds to further his education, medical care, secure housing, and seeking additional support services for his well-being.
Please consider donating to support Brad, to help him succeed after experiencing years of injustice.
