Brady Smith's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Hello family, friends, and supporters,
My name is Tammy, I am fundraising for a dear friend of mine, Brady Smith. I truly appreciate you taking the time to read his story.
Brady had a devastating accident while bull riding in the Coombs rodeo August 18th, 2024. It resulted in the fracture of his C6 and damage to his C5. After an 8+ hour surgery his C4-7 vertebrae were fused. At this time, he has no sensation below his chest, extremely limited use of his arms and no fine hand motor skills.
I hope to alleviate some of the financial burden that will coincide with Brady's long road to recovery. As of today, he is working on being able to strengthen his diaphragm in order to swallow so he can regain the ability to eat and drink. The balance between regaining strength and having any semblance of pain 'free' time is an extremely fine line.
During his stay in the hospital he will undergo countless hours of therapy, which will require every ounce of mental and physical stamina. Though, if you know Brady, you know he doesn’t shy away from hard work. When he is able to leave the hospital, his home will require many modifications as well as numerous medical devices including a power wheelchair and Hoyer lift. Needless to say, this has changed the trajectory of his life.
Brady brings a light to everyone he knows. He is charming, witty and always that steady hand when needed. He loves adventure and everything outdoorsy. His immense love of animals, and especially rodeo began as a toddler. It morphed from mutton busting and grew into his love of bull riding. He values his career with Woodtone Specialties, where he has grown through the ranks since the young age of 23. As an extremely valued member of the team, he’s able to balance kindness and compassion with his drive to get the job done.
Brady is a fun loving uncle to his cherished nieces and nephew and always keeps his Mom and two older sisters on their toes.
If you are unable to donate at this time, please kindly share with others in your community that may be able to help.
Brady and his family thank you all from the bottom of their hearts for your love and support. They ask that you honour their privacy at this time.
