Brainerd Class of 2020 Grad Parade at BIR
Donation protected
Despite all the road blocks thrown at the Class of 2020, COVID-19 is not stopping these BRAINERD graduates from heading down the highway. The class of 2020 will not be able to experience that American tradition we all remember – graduating from high school alongside your friends and tossing your hat high in the air.
Brainerd High School is holding a virtual graduation on Friday, May 22nd and a group of community members have gotten together to organize a last-minute parade at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR) for our students prior to the virtual commencement. Thanks to the generosity of BIR, they are allowing a parade to be held at the track for graduates and their immediate family members. This parade has been discussed with local officials and will be conducted within the gathering guidelines.
We are looking for help to fund this celebration and have expenses related to securing a stage, decorating the stage, purchasing balloons for a release, etc. The stage set up alone is $900 and the balloon release will cost around $1,000. All money raised beyond the amount needed for expenses will be donated to GradBlast.
Please help the Brainerd Class of 2020 celebrate their achievement. You only graduate from high school once in your life! This parade, along with a separate virtual ceremony, will be the only chance for these students to experience a heightened level of pomp and circumstance. They are a class who has missed so many memorable firsts and lasts in the last few months of their senior year. Please help us make this a very memorable day as they end their senior year, graduating amidst an historic pandemic that has turned our world upside down. Let's help the Class of 2020 cross the finish line!
