Bramble Childrens Ward - Exeter Hospital

Donation protected
Bramble ward in Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital has been amazing to our 10 year old daughter Lilly, who has undergone 3 big spinal operations in the last 5 weeks.

Lilly has Scolisis and her spine isn't straight (it's like an S shape) which will effect her mobility as she grows and internal organs and how well they function.

Unfortunately this is heritary as Lilly's Mum, Emily has the same medical condition and under went a full spinal fushion 6 months ago (also at Exeter hospital)

Lilly has at least 3 more operations to go as she grows but she has been extremely brave during the whole process and we are extremely proud of her.

During her first operation on the 20th Dec 2023, she was admitted for a week and had to say in over Christmas including Christmas day - all the staff were so lovely in making the day as special as could be for her and our family and all the other children and their families on the ward too.
They are amazing all the time actually, every single one.

Lilly had to undergo emergency surgery 2 weeks ago as the spinal rod detached from her spine which was causing alot of pain and the screws were dangerously close to her spinal cord. Luckily the surgery was successful.

Each time Lilly has surgery she has to stay off school for about 4 - 6 weeks recovery so she misses alot of time off school and is really missing all her friends and teachers.

On the 1st Feb she underwent revision spinal surgery to correct the surgery that didn't work, replace a rod, add a second rod the other side of spine for stability, reattached the other rod in a differed place, lots more screw placements and bolts to try and hold it in place so that it doesn't detach again....... fingers crossed.

When she has the operations, she spend a few days each time in Brambles High Depency Unit before being able to move onto the main ward for the rest of her stay.

The HDU beds don't have televisions over the beds so Lilly would love to raise some money to buy a some portable Dvd's players for these beds as they only have one and it's quite old and doesn't work great.

She would also like to raise some money for some more books and craft school supplies for the hospital school (as she has loved doing these activities during her stay) and maybe some new board games for the children on the main ward if she raises enough money.

Please help Lilly and donate if you can, as its for a great cause.
