Brandi Fighting Cancer
Don protégé
We would like to share a challenge our son Joseph and his wife Brandi are facing at this time:
In May of 2021, Brandi had a routine partial hysterectomy to remove a fibroid. That fibroid was sent out to be biopsied; it came back that she had uterine leiomyosarcoma (LMS).
They caught it early and were hopeful for the best outcome. Brandi had a second surgery in July (full hysterectomy) as a precaution to remove any possible lingering cancer cells.
Brandi learned that it had already spread to her lung at her first three-month scan. Surgery and her first round of chemotherapy had been quickly set up in November. Her first two chemo protocol treatments have been ineffective, and the cancer has aggressively overtaken her whole lung and spread to her stomach (stage4). She recently spent three weeks in the hospital to manage some of the chemo side effects. She finally came home on March 12th but is starting her last chemotherapy opportunity on Monday, March 14th.
This is Brandi's last opportunity for approved chemo treatment for her type of cancer. The doctors are looking into clinical trials that she can enroll in and any holistic therapies that can potentially help her. Since she cannot work and their expenses have become overwhelming, we are seeking the help of family and friends to provide support.
Thank you,
