Brandi Poole road to recovery fund

In June, Brandi began experiencing a variety of symptoms.  After multiple doctor visits, they still could not determine a  cause.  On Friday, September 25th she woke up with some numbness in her legs.  She went to the ER on Sunday morning as she had lost the mobility in her legs and was numb from the stomach down.  After multiple CT scans, MRIs, a colonoscopy, and bone scan, they had answers for her.  They found a mass on her spine, a mass on her colon, spots on her liver and lungs,  and some degree of brain atrophy.  She received the hard diagnosed of stage 4 colon cancer.

They determined the mass on her spine is the cause for her loss of the feeling of her lower body.  The mass is entwined with her spinal cord, so the neurosurgeon wants to avoid surgery if possible as it poses many risks.  They started radiation on Thursday, October 1st.  She will continue to get radiation treatments for 10 days and then begin chemotherapy.  Surgery is still a possibility, but one they wish to avoid if possible.  The hope is that the radiation and chemo  will at least shrink, if not eliminate, the mass on her spine to restore her feeling and mobility.

Brandi has been a teacher at Westminster Child Development Center for 17 years.  She has cared for and taught children from 3 months to 8 years old.  She has a heart, passion, and dedication for providing exceptional care for young children.  Her dedication to nurturing and loving each child individually has  impacted the lives of countless children and families.  Even from her hospital bed her mind is still thinking about ways to help the children in her class.  Aside from her work life, she is devoted to her family.  She is a wife, a sister to 4, a daughter, and an adored aunt.   Brandi gives of herself daily to put the needs of others before her own.

We want Brandi to be able to focus on her recovery over the coming months instead of the financial burden she may be facing.  Some of the expenses that she may incur include medical costs , wheel chair accessible alterations to her home, or possible moving expenses to an ADA friendly house,  a wheel chair accessible vehicle, and possible income loss.
