Hi, my name is Josh, and I am raising money for my partner Brandie, who was recently diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia.
Brandie has been working in the healthcare industry as an Interventional Radiology Technologist.
She had been with the Mayo Clinic for the last few years until in April 2022, when she accepted a traveling position. We thought it would be fun to buy an RV and travel around the US, so we sold our home. She had always claimed to be allergic to snow and cold, so this was the perfect way to avoid winter.
In mid-May 2022, when we were near Denver, Colorado for her first traveling contract, she started getting terrible headaches. The first headache lasted a week; we were up in the mountains the day before it had started, so we thought it was caused by the change in elevation. This was a recurring theme, so we were sure it had to do with the change in altitude.
The headaches became so bad, not even the strongest medication would help. It killed me to see her in so much pain, and there was nothing I could do for her. A CT scan was done on May 27th but didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. The headaches eventually subsided but Brandie continued to have various scans done – again, revealing nothing unusual. It wasn’t until September 8th when we were stationed in Sioux Falls for her next contract that Brandie decided to return to Rochester to have blood work done.
Those results did yield something unusual, and she was requested back at the Mayo the very next day. We weren’t given any details, so we left everything packing only an overnight bag and hit the road for the 4-hour drive back to the hospital. Upon arrival Brandie got the devastating news that she would not be returning to work or home, as she was diagnosed with B-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia. She would need to stay in Rochester to receive chemo-treatment for the foreseeable future.
Brandie has dedicated her life to helping others inside and outside of work and has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever known. My intention in asking for help is to ensure that Brandie can focus her energy on the battle ahead instead of worrying about the price tag attached to her care. I know she would never ask for help, but I do know how much your support would mean to her.
Due to Covid-restrictions, Mayo has limited the number of visitors. Additionally, Brandie’s immediate family lives out of state; as a result, I will be her primary caregiver. Donations will be used to help with all medical costs and necessary support.
