Brandon Dumas medical expenses

Donation protected
Friends and family,
I'm Stacy Oldfield and I'm reaching out to let you know that I'm creating this go-fund me account for Brandon Dumas to assist with his medical/surgery/medication expenses.
As many of you know, Brandon has been dealing with multiple illnesses for awhile.
He's hesitant to let me ask for assistance, he is a private person. He relented and I asked him to give a summary of his illnesses and what he and his family are facing. I have been friends with Brandon and Brenda for 35 years, they are so very special to so many people.

Brandon wrote the following message:

My Illness Progression~
As most of you know, in 2016 I was hospitalized with a major pancreatitis attack that led to many unforeseen complications. I was in a coma for several weeks and nearly died. After several months of recovery time, I was somewhat back to normal with internal damage to my pancreas and stomach. In 2020 I started feeling extreme pain in the same areas again and was eventually sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center where I was diagnosed with Chronic Autoimmune Pancreatitis. Which means I’m destined to have pancreatitis attacks for the rest of my life. There is no cure, only pain management drugs. Although the drugs help manage the extreme pain, it makes it difficult to work and do daily tasks. While at the clinic, my Dr. discovered several tumors. At the end of my tests, scopes, and scans, I was told that all the past bouts with Pancreatitis had caused so much damage that they could do nothing for me and go home and live my best life, but my time was short.
Fast forward a few months, my doctors at the VA hospital decided to send me to The Rocky Mountain Cancer Center in Denver for further testing and options. They got to work and have been working on me since. However, with the damage, intertwined blood vessels in the tumors and other obstacles, I have just continued to be on medications for pain management with no real solution or options. I have been doing the best I can to manage the pain, while trying to work, live, and enjoy my family until something major happened or I was given another option. Well, last week my Dr told us the tumors are growing and I had two options; I could continue as I am, struggling with pain meds, knowing that I am dying, or that I could choose to have surgery that is very risky, but it would prolong my life and hopefully allow me to live as normal as possible.
We have chosen the surgery option. On August 15th I will have surgery to remove as much of my pancreas as possible, remove the large cancer tumors, remove my gall bladder, reconstruct my small intestines, and reroute my digestive tract. If I survive the surgery, our lives will be completely different. We have been trying to survive mainly on Brenda’s income and I will most likely have to get on disability. I’ve had reservations about asking for help. It's an uncomfortable situation to be in, but we know God has a plan for us. The Dr. told us we could be in Denver for up to a month post-surgery. I honestly have no idea the extent of expenses, but at this point, anything will help.
Thank you and God bless you all ~ Brandon and Brenda
