Brandon Ede's TBI Rehabilitation

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jodi Baker, and I am fundraising for my son, Brandon Ede. Brandon has been recovering from a near-fatal car accident near his home in Sacramento, CA, on Dec. 18, 2021. Following months of hospitalization, surgeries, and two rounds of in-patient rehabilitation for Physical, Occupational and Speech therapies, Brandon has been medically stable and actively participating in outpatient therapies for severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) since June 2022. He has progressed beyond dependence on opioids for pain relief, requiring a feeding tube and a tracheotomy. He is no longer exclusively in a wheelchair; he now uses a walker unless the distance is too long or there is rough, uneven terrain.

If money/insurance/referrals/approvals weren't an issue, there is phenomenal treatment for TBI recovery above and beyond what insurance will cover. Brandon had an evaluation at SCI-FIT, and we are highly optimistic about the therapy they offer, and it is right here where we live in Clovis, CA.

Steve Nava, co-owner and Neuro Exercise Therapist at SCI-FIT, truly made us believe that "There are no limitations, only possibilities." What they offer is so advanced compared to what Brandon has been receiving. We don't diminish the therapies h has had, but this is so much more! Their brochure says, "SCI-FIT offers a long-term, high intensity, non-traditional outpatient therapy program that focuses on recovery rather than adaptation." BRANDON AND EVERY TBI PATIENT DESERVE THIS!

Beginning Oct. 10, 2022, Brandon has committed to two 1-hour sessions per week. These sessions will be in addition to the PT, OT and speech therapies he is authorized through insurance. Recovery is a full-time job. He often has up to 3 appointments per day, five days a week, and he has a daily at-home regimen. We feel confident SCI-FIT will have Brandon walking without needing a walker or wheelchair and help him reach his ultimate goal of complete independence. We know it's possible, and this is the best option to reach his goal sooner rather than later.

This kind of intense therapy is expensive! It is not easy for me to ask for help, but I'll do anything for my kids. I am asking if you can help provide Brandon with the therapy that has the potential to allow him to live the life he was meant to, the life he was on the path toward before his accident. I will continue doing everything in my power to support him and ensure he gets this therapy. Our entire family would be forever grateful for any donation you may be able to offer to help relieve us of some of the financial strain.

With his current schedule, this therapy is $1000 per month minimum. There is additional equipment suitable for him that we could not commit to due to financial constraints. Donations may be a game changer and open up these possibilities.

If you want to learn more about Brandon's accident and recovery, we have a private Facebook group "Brandon's Story". ttps://fb.me/g/p_aTtFhjZVemGdDad3/BHbkqFGo

We are so grateful for the love and support we have received since the accident. My son's life has taken a detour that we could never have expected, but because of the love, thoughts, prayers, and support he has received, he remains positive and knows he is never alone!

With love and gratitude,
Jodi
