It's crazy how fast your life can change. At 32, I am at a peak in my career, I have met many of my goals in life and am living comfortable in Portland, OR.
On March 4th, my life began to spiral downward, starting with a trip to the ER. I had been experiencing abdomanial pain for several months and seeing my PCP for possible causes, When I started having issues breathing, I knew I needed help right away.
After waiting 2 hours in the ER waiting room, I was finally given a room and assigned a Doctor. He ran the usual lab tests, all coming back mostly normal, he decided to order a CT Scan. This is where my life began to change.
As I sat waiting for the results, my biggest fear was him returning with "We couldn't find anything". Little did I know, that should of been my least fear. After about 2 hours of waiting, he finally returned and closed the door, He had a sympathetic look on his face and I wasn't sure how to take his approach.
He began to speak, "We found out what is causing your pain. Your spleen is huge, you have an enlarged liver which is leaking fluid into your stomach, but the most concerning are the masses lining the wall of your stomach, which may be cancerous, but we will need a biopsy to determine if that is the case".
I immediatly began to tear up...was this actually happening?? I am 32 years old, why didn't my PCP find this...so many questions ran through my head,,,I won't bore you with the rest of the details, but that was the start of the biggest battle of my life and I will continue to fight until there is no fight left.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and please contribute by sharing with your friends or making a donation. Thanks again.
