Brandy and Dan Gergen have an emergency

Ok...what would you do?
People you love have had a crazy year, surviving several critical, life altering events, to now be dealt a truly devastating blow to their home, safety, future, and profoundly strained finances.

I'm Kim Sobbe, and pictured, you see Brandy and Dan Gergen, my Central time zone parents in Fridley, MN, a looong a$$ way from me in Sarasota, FL, and responsible for giving me my dear sista from another mista, Jen Gergen.

Pictured next to them, the broken limb, the height of a mini van, where it came to rest after causing enormous roof damage and crushing Brandy's sunrise alcove to block the main entry to the house.

It happened, with no storm or warning, in the pre-dawn hours and I can near guarantee, Brandy would have been sitting there, a couple hours later, unaware of the perilous, tree ogre waiting to drop and wreck everything...and worse - bc after the year she's had, she would never have been able to move quickly.

With your help, please, no more.

The standing tree in the pic, now an apparent looming predator- that's the bedroom end of the house- needs to be evaluated for rot before insurance will pay for repairs. The stalling is infuriating. They need things to move along. The limb blocking the main entry of the house is over 40 feet long and has already been there for weeks.

So, I have been given leave to alert the various communities these folks have supported and touched for decades.

They need help.
100% will go to this deserving family, thru Jen Gergen.

They actually have been in the soup for some time, but this latest has the possibility of unhousing them. That cannot be allowed.

It's possible they would have glided through this disaster had not
Brandy needed:
  • ~an ambulance ride and hospital stay for a fracture in a fall last autumn.
  • ~for another ambulance ride and ER stay for a deadly respiratory infection last holiday time - she has COPD.
  • ~out of pocket liquid oxygen costs bc insurance pulled back on her required oxygen.
  • ~earlier this year she had an appendix burst with another ambulance ride and hospital stay.

Had not Dan needed:
  • ~ cancer testing, treatment, and rehab.
  • ~ heart attack/treatments - ambulances and hospitals, rehab.
  • ~ hip and knee surgery - one coming up in early October.

All of these things have choked out their last year with fear and pain. Luckily, being who they are, they have responded with resilience and strength.

Please help them.

If nothing else- we gotta FINALLY get that freaking tree out of there and that's going to take thousands of dollars - even before their roof is fixed and the giant limb is removed.

Winter will be here in a minute.

Please help with anything you can.

Every little bit will be greatly appreciated and all donations will go directly to these wonderful Gergen folks, through their daughter, Jen Gergen, for repairs and survivability.
