Hello everyone, I’m Brandy Ogletree!
I’m currently 22 years old and Retired from motocross due to an injury in 2015.
I’m on a mission to get out of this wheelchair and back on my feet!
On April 12th 2015 in Laurel, Indiana I had to make a split second decision to wreck my dirt bike on purpose from about 15-20ft in the Air. I did so to prevent my bike from landing on another rider who was on the blind landing. It left me paralyzed for the time I being but most definitely saved his life.
Before paralysis I lived like there was no Tomorrow. I accomplished many things from state championships in motocross to experiencing travel and in high school band. I’ve played many sports and worked on my first car growing up. I wasn’t prepared for the heart breaking life style changes ahead.
Since my accident I’ve worked hard on life adjustments and career changes. I am happy to report that I’ve had some major gains in movement and sensation. They’ve all stopped though near my belly and haven’t been able to improve much since.
An an exciting Opportunity has arrived at my door and I want to do all I can to get better. Stem cells are now approved for treatment and are very promising to help regain more mobility and sensation. This would create a much higher quality of life for myself and those around me I’m sure.
So here’s the catch! The best of insurance companies won’t cover stem cells yet due to them being a newer procedure. The cost out of pocket is right near 9k an injection. The doctors say I might need three of them but we are starting with one to see how well it works for my body!
I'm currently a college student just working and doing physical therapy to try and stimulate nerve endings below my spinal chord injury.
I’m so excited to try and gain back the mobility that goes along with my personality.
I promise anything you’re able to give or sharing the page will not go to waste.
