Support Brass Solidarity going to Honk! 2023

Donation protected
Brass Solidarity was formed in 2021 in response to the tragic murder of George Floyd and the ongoing fight for Black lives. Our mission is to use the power of music to promote social justice and foster unity within our communities. We believe that music can inspire, educate, and create positive change, and that's exactly what we aim to do. In these last few years we’ve been featured on MInnesota Public Radio, CBS news, and even the cover of the New York Times!

About Brass Solidarity: Brass Solidarity is comprised of talented musicians from diverse musical backgrounds, all of whom share a deep commitment to social justice. Our band consists of brass instrumentalists, percussionists, and passionate performers who use their skills to deliver powerful messages of equality, justice, and unity. Through our performances, we strive to create an inclusive and empowering space where people can come together, be inspired, and join the movement for positive change.

Our Goal: We have an incredible opportunity to participate in the Honk ! festival of activist street bands in Boston, which will be held in October. This festival brings together street bands from around the world who use their music to advocate for social and political causes. It provides us with a unique platform to amplify our message and connect with like-minded artists and activists.

Why We Need Your Support: While the Honk! festival is an amazing opportunity, it comes with substantial costs. As an independent band, we rely on the generosity and support of our community to make this experience a reality. Your contributions will help cover travel expenses and miscellaneous costs – we already have accommodations figured out! We are trying to send 20 band members, and it will cost an average of $400 per person including the luggage fees for our instruments. This is how we landed on $8k as our goal.

By supporting Brass Solidarity, you are not only helping us achieve our dreams of performing at the Honk! festival, but you are also helping us connect with similar bands around the country. By building these connections we can gain support navigating the challenges of running an activist street band, which helps us better serve our beloved community at home.

How You Can Help: We invite you to be a part of our journey and support Brass Solidarity in any way you can. Here are a few ways you can contribute:
  • Make a Donation: Every dollar counts! Your financial support will directly impact our ability to attend the Honk! festival and continue our mission of promoting social justice.
  • Spread the Word: Share our GoFundMe page with your friends, family, and social networks. The more people who know about our cause, the greater our chances of reaching our fundraising goal.
  • Attend our Performances: If you're in our area or plan to visit, come to our live performances! You can find us on Facebook or Instagram where we post upcoming gigs.
  • Collaborate with Us: If you are a musician, artist, or activist who shares our vision, we would love to collaborate with you. Reach out to us, and let's discuss how we can work together to create meaningful change.

Join the Movement: By supporting Brass Solidarity, you become an integral part of our movement for social justice. Together, we can use the power of music to uplift voices, inspire action, and bring about lasting change. Help us make a difference and join us on this incredible journey. Thank you for your generosity, belief, and solidarity!

If you give $100 or more you can get one of our Brass Solidarity t-shirts (local pickup preferred)!

If we surpass our goal additional money will go towards future projects, including but not limited to traveling to protests and paying BIPOC artists for licensing and/or writing music for us to play.

Note: Brass Solidarity is committed to transparency and will provide regular updates to our supporters on our progress, achievements, and the impact of your contributions.
