Braxton Haussman's hockey season

Braxton Haussman is a 9 year old boy who plays hockey for the Florida Jr. Everblades. He has a heart and a drive like almost no other young player I have coached. He is a very talented player too. Most importantly to me is that Braxton is always respectful to his coaches and kind to his teammates. He does not let his competitive spirit spill out beyond himself, rather, he wants everyone around him to be their best. He knows that success comes from hard work and effort and he always gives 100%. His teachers report the same, as Braxton is one of the top students in his school.
More recently, Braxton's Dad was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer. He has undergone, to date, six rounds of chemotherapy in a fight to survive what he was told was a terminal condition. This has resulted in him being unable to perform his work duties and Braxton does not have the funds to play in the 2019-20 hockey season. Braxton has not complained about having to give up hockey because if he has to choose between the two, he wants his Dad to get the treatment he needs. Even when losing that which he loves the most, he still lacks an ounce of selfishness.
It is my view that a 9 year old boy, like Braxton, should not have to shoulder the weight of this situation like he is. As one of his coaches, I would hate to see Braxton have to stop playing the game he loves because of unfortunate events outside of his control. In fact, this is the time where he needs hockey the most. He not only needs an external support system, but he needs to have time to be a kid and forget the troubles of a cruel world.
Please join me in supporting Braxton in his fight against giving up on dreams and give him a reason to smile at a time where smiles don't come as easy any more; and, help me fund his 2019-20 hockey season.
