Brayli Steberl fights PNH

In November 2022, while simply perusing her degree at Campbellsville University in Campbellsville , 20 year old Brayli Steberl received a very unexpected diagnosis of a very rare blood disorder called PNH . This disorder causes the body to fight against itself and destroy the red blood cells and cause blood clots . Not only was she diagnosed with that but also another very rare disorder named Budd-Chiari Syndrome. This is where the veins in her liver are blocked by blood clots .

Only around 500 people in the US have been diagnosed with the rare blood disorder of PNH and 1 in a million with Budd- Chiari.

After 3 unsuccessful liver surgeries since November Brayli has recently learned a more aggressive treatment will be needed in the very near future that could include stem cell transplant as this is the only known “cure” and liver transplant as hers is severely damaged.

Currently her infusions and medical treatments alone are very expensive.

Brayli and some of her family will be traveling out of state in March to seek and hopefully receive more advanced professional knowledge and care on these conditions.

As one can imagine finances are a VERY serious concern at this time with all that will be involved with traveling out of state for care and the treatment that will be needed.
