Help BBU Bake Bread for the Community

Dear Bread by Us Community & Supporters,
Facing a closure of an indefinite length is leaving us feeling concerned for not only our business, but also the community of food-insecure residents of our city. Members of our team have expressed a deep desire to continue to bake bread while we are closed with the goal of getting it in the hands of people in need.
We've spoken with the Parkdale Food Centre (PFC) - the radically caring food centre in our community - and we've come up with a creative solution that will help us continue to generate (modest) revenues while providing bread to people housed in shelters.
The PCF is currently operating under a lot of added pressure, and on top of helping people in the neighbourhood, they are also providing food for approximately 500 people currently being housed at two local hotels. These folks are living under very difficult conditions. The PFC is doing their best to support them in this temporary housing situation, but they are under a lot of pressure themselves.
Here's where we want to help.
Many of the residents of the shelter have expressed a need for more access to bread. Bread by Us would like to bake enough bread in the coming weeks to send it to each and every person living in those temporary shelters.
We estimate that with a skeleton crew, we could do this over 3 days. We are willing to do this each week until we are able to re-open.
We want to commit to baking 285 loaves of bread next week in order to send it to the PFC, for them to distribute it to the shelters. We are waiting one week to get started because we want to ensure that none of our team develop symptoms of illness first.
The retail value of 285 loaves that we plan on baking is $2000. This is what we are asking you to cover. This money will cover the labour cost of making that bread, and go towards helping us pay our fixed costs (rent & utilities).
We think it's is super important to help get food into the hands of people whose income and circumstances didn't allow for them to stockpile goods.
If this campaign is successful, we will continue it until we are able to re-open the shop. If you help us raise funds beyond our $2000 goal, we will continue baking for the Food Centre.
In the event that we are unable to bake due to illness, we will happily donate any money raised to the Parkdale Food Centre.
While $2000/week only represents a small proportion of our typical revenues, if we manage to fund raise that amount for 3 consecutive weeks, we will be able to cover our rent for April without incurring debt. This would help us immensely.
Sending you all love & gratitude for considering helping us and our neighbours in need during this challenging time.
As always, thanks for helping us "Pay it Forward".
