Breakfast for the Homeless Sunday Ministry

Hello, my name is Gino and my other friend is Michael. We’re Christian men wanting to make a small difference in the lives of the unhoused by providing hot coffee and sandwiches each Sunday morning before we go to our church for service.

The idea came to me last Sunday when as I was eating a McDonald’s breakfast on the shopping center parking lot, I saw a sleeping person outside of a local Walgreens. I was so moved that here I am having breakfast and there’s a brother asleep not knowing what the day would bring.

I went back to McDonalds and got the person a medium coffee and a sandwich. I went up to this person and I said “Good Morning! Breakfast Time!”. The person removed the hoodie covering his head and sat up. It was a young man under all that layers of clothing. He said “thank you” as I left him to enjoy his breakfast.

When we got to church, another homeless man was being ushered into the fellowship hall for breakfast.

I began to wonder why the day seemed to be about homeless people and them having a hot breakfast.

i believe the Holy Spirit is wanting me and my buddy to start on a simple ministry: that of providing a hot breakfast on Sundays randomly scouting for those people still lying down or just aimlessly moving around.
