Help Breaking Bread Community Save Humans and Pets

THE PROBLEM:
* Thousands of unhoused people in the United States die on the streets each year.
* A portion of these people succumb to hypothermia.
* Of those who die from hypothermia, many were homeless with their pets.
* There are no shelters in Philadelphia and Suburban Region that house people and their pets.
*Over the course of operating shelters in churches for a decade, SREHUP (Student-Run Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia) has had to turn away countless individuals who are seeking shelter with their pets.
THE SOLUTION:
*In December of 2022, SREHUP opened FIRST shelter for people and their pets (ALL pets/All Breeds) in Upper Darby. Our new shelter is called Breaking Bread Community.
*We are partnering with local pet shelters, which are providing crates, dog supplies, dog food, veterinarian care, and dog groomers and walkers for our shelter. Morris Animal Refuge is our biggest pet care partner.
* This shelter is innovative, revolutionary, and life saving.
What Your Donations Will Accomplish:
We have completed phase one of renovation to our new facility, which allowed us to open our doors in December for those experiencing homelessness. We are at limited capacity, however, and are in need of completing our renovation in order to house even more people and care for their pets as well. Your contribution will help us complete phase two of renovation, which will allow us to build out an office for veterinarian services, and house and care for the people with their pets.
