Tackling Period Poverty: Empower Young Girls in Kenya
Donation protected
We invite you to help address a critical issue affecting young girls in Kenya: period poverty. Many girls lack access to affordable and safe menstrual products, forcing them to resort to unsafe alternatives or miss school during their periods. This not only impacts their health and hygiene but also their education and future opportunities.
During our first trip to Kenya, we heard heartbreaking stories from girls who felt stripped of their dignity, struggled with deep depression, and even contemplated suicide due to a lack of sanitary pads. In response, we quickly sprang into action, fundraising to provide over 15,000 sanitary pads to a girls' high school in Narok County.
However, we soon realized that this approach wasn't sustainable for the girls or the environment, so we sought a better solution.
Introducing the Ruby Cup:
The Ruby Cup, made from high-quality medical-grade silicone, is designed for maximum comfort and safety. It significantly reduces the risk of infections and irritation often associated with other menstrual products. Most importantly, it offers a life-changing solution for the girls who receive it.
Reusable and Economical: One Ruby Cup can last up to 10 years, drastically reducing the ongoing cost of menstrual products for young girls and their families.
Ecological: By choosing a reusable product, we help minimize the environmental impact of disposable sanitary products, which often end up in landfills.
Life-Changing: With a Ruby Cup, girls can attend school without interruption, participate confidently in daily activities, and focus on their education and personal growth.
Education Matters:
In addition to providing Ruby Cups, we are committed to ensuring that girls understand how to use and care for them properly. We will bring trained educators onsite to teach them about female anatomy, how to use the cups effectively, and proper sanitization techniques. This comprehensive approach leads to higher success rates, empowering girls to take control of their menstrual health.
Our Mission:
By providing Ruby Cups and educational workshops, we aim to break the cycle of period poverty and empower young girls to pursue their education and dreams without the stigma and limitations imposed by their menstrual cycles. This initiative addresses an immediate need while promoting long-term health, education, and environmental sustainability.
How You Can Help:
Your support is crucial in making this vision a reality. Donations to this campaign will directly fund the purchase and distribution of Ruby Cups to girls in need, along with educational workshops on menstrual health and hygiene.
Together, we can significantly impact the lives of young girls in Kenya. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us move closer to a future where period poverty is a thing of the past.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
