Breast Cancer Diagnosis and an Insurance Gap
Donation protected
My wife was diagnosed with Invasive Loburar Carcinoma [Breast Cancer] and requires a full left mastectomy.
I worked a full-time job with insurance until going out on my own to pursue entrepreneurship. Then, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Leading up to that, she had an MRI, scans, and a couple of consultations. This has cost me a little over $14,000, and my insurance doesn't kick in until 1 August.
My entire adult life, I've had insurance and for the very small window in between my work insurance and my private insurance, this happens. And yes, I could have waited until August, but when your wife tells you that she is in pain and needs to see someone, you do it. I felt her pain with her and, that pain was legitimized with the diagnosis.
It hurts to go the route of Go Fund Me in that I've always wanted to be the answer to my own questions. I've always wanted to be the guy who did right by my family, society, and the financial realities that bind both. But I could not forecast the timing or cost of this matter.
I just couldn't.
I'm not an irresponsible person, I'm just a human being trying to make it in an expensive world and with situations that are/were truly beyond my control.
