Breast Friends Unite: Help Kam Kick Cancer's Butt!

11/6/24 Update-
Hi all,
Thank you for all of your donations, care, and support so far. Kam feels incredibly loved and held by her community. The monetary contributions have been tremendously helpful, and all of the quirky and creative shows of support are greatly appreciated too. For example, Kam really loved the random pics folks have sent her to cheer her up, offerings of massages, reiki, and collaborating with her on artistic and fun projects. These have really lifted her spirits and been a healthy distraction! Kam says, “I don’t know all the things that I need, and it’s hard to come up with something when people ask. It’s been so nice that so many people are just reaching out and sending love and getting creative.”
I also want to provide an update on Kam’s treatment. Kam is scheduled to have her surgeries later this month, right before the Thanksgiving holiday. She is scheduled for three surgeries, one of which is the lumpectomy, which will remove the tumors. Recovery will take at least two months. Our hope is that post surgery results will give Kam a better prognosis, and possibly remission of the cancer. As you know, Kam’s diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, which is both rare and difficult to treat, with less optimal prognoses, so please keep her in your prayers.
If you have capacity to help:
1) Continuing monetary donations would be greatly helpful. We’ve moved the target up to $20k. ***The “larger” donations are amazing, and if you are able to commit to smaller, biweekly or monthly donations, that would be incredibly helpful too
2) Keep Kam K-ompany– 2 months of recovery is a long time, and Kam will need regular visits and company. If you’d like to visit Kam during this period, please email or message me (Angel- [email redacted], insta- angelllllt)
3) Supporting Kam’s fam– if you’d like to be part of the post-surgery care team and help out Kam’s family with groceries, meal prep, or errands, please also email or message me and I’ll add you to the schedule. Anything helps!
Thank you all again for all of your love and support of Kam! We’re gonna get our girl through this.

Hi everyone,
As some of you may already know, our girl Kam was recently diagnosed with cancer. She has been diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer-Stage 3. It is a rare and aggressive cancer, and treatment options are few. Kam is focusing on holistic approaches and has been recommended by UCSF and Highland Hospital to explore chemotherapy and surgery. Although she’s just received the diagnosis a few weeks ago, it has already been a very challenging and overwhelming experience for Kam and her family.
If you know Kam, you know how big and generous her heart is, and how deeply and ferociously she loves and shows up for her tribe.
We also all know that Kam is incredibly tough, smart, and independent, and doesn’t often ask her community for help, even though she’s always the first to show up for anything that we need (I’ll never forget when she drove from SF to Oakland at midnight with an eye infection to help me jump my car).
And so we, a few of her friends, are organizing this GoFundMe to support Kam with her medical bills, living expenses, and any other costs that may come up for her and her family in the coming months. All donations will be directly deposited into Kam’s account. Any amount that you can manage is greatly appreciated.
***The current goal is set at $20k to help get Kam started- the treatments that Kam is considering ranges from $40-$60k (linked here if you’d like to read more), so we’re hoping to continue fundraising as we go along.
Here’s a word from Kam:
“I am deeply grateful and touched by the tremendous amount of support I’ve received so far. I love you all so so much. I am doing okay- some days are tougher than others. This has been a very emotionally draining experience, and some days I am completely overwhelmed. I’ve been to a bunch of doctor visits, where they’re poking and prodding me with tests, and also had one very traumatic and painful biopsy. It’s been a lot. I’m facing things I’ve never faced before, and having to make a lot of hard decisions. While I'm working closely with my doctors to finalize my treatment plan, how it actually looks can vary day to day and there's going to be a lot of uncertainty and unknown.
People keep asking me what I need, and what I need is positivity and uplifting. I love you, but if you see me in the streets, do not cry or sad face me! Help me lift my spirits- my motto right now is, it’s-business-as-usual.
Angel also helped me put together a list of what I need right now, and what I don’t need.”
What Kam needs:
- Monetary support (Donate to this GoFundMe or to Kam's Amazon wishlist of supplies for school)
- Options and resources for holistic care
- Your prayers and love
- Positive energies and attitudes
- Not constantly talking about the cancer- Kam would appreciate distractions, collabs on projects, adventures, fun
- supplies for school/photoshoots (Kam's in the last year of her MA)
- help looking for remote work
- diet/meal prep planning services to change eating habits to support health & longevity
Things that Kam appreciates, but don’t have capacity to receive right now:
- Thoughts/advice/opinions on her treatment options
- Questions about her cancer & treatment (Kam is being overwhelmed with texts/calls- if you have questions, please try to direct them to Angel or Lacey! **Obviously everyone’s welcome to check in, send her love, and ask her how she’s doing)
- Personal stories of you or your family/friend’s journey with cancer (while recovery/treatment stories were nice to hear at first, it is getting to be more and more emotionally taxing for Kam)
- Emotional labor (we are all heartbroken, and, Kam is carrying a lot already. Please help us in limiting her stress!)
Thank you all so much for your love and support of Kam!
