Alyssa's 2nd Lung Transplant

Donation protected
Alyssa Magro, as some of you may know, is 25 and now awaiting a 2nd lung transplant.  Three years ago in 2015, Alyssa, having been diagnosed and ill with Cystic Fibrosis ( a genetic disease that attacks the lungs, pancreas and intestines etc) all of her life, had deteriorated significantly but was blessed enough to receive a life-saving double lung transplant.  She was so strong and so thankful to be able to breathe for once in her life and we were so hopeful for Alyssa's future. She was living life to the fullest.  With her new lease on life she was very active in the Jeep Community raising awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. She has dedicated her life to helping others just like her.  She seeks to help them to believe in themselves and know that even through illness you can accomplish anything.  Her path has had many twists and turns and throughout it all she has been inspired to give back and help others.
Alyssa has endured more in her short 25 years than most do in an entire lifetime but her strength and her positive outlook has been an inspiration to everyone she encounters.
Unfortunately, after recent months of unexpected illnesses, the medical team has determined that Alyssa is in rejection and will need a new set of lungs to survive.  As her body works hard to reject the same lungs that once saved her life, Alyssa will be listed for a new transplant, before the lungs fully give out. Her spirit is strong but her body can't keep up and this is her best chance at continuing her life! Even with this news, Alyssa's perseverance and faith astonishes us all.   With her family and friends by her side and God watching over, she will get through this and I am certain she will again once again bring her bright light and love to the world!
Alyssa and Anne will relocate to Durham as is required by the hospital, where Anne can care for Alyssa, and await the call for a new set of lungs. The length of time is unknown, but last time when she had her transplant they were traveling/relocated for over 9 months.  Christian, Jordan and Chaz will remain in Denver so Chris can continue to provide for their family and Jordan can continue with school.  Any funds raised will go towards the costs associated with the second transplant including relocation costs.  This family has had a significant financial burden with illness from the day their children were born.  For years they have found a way to provide a safe and secure home, but the debt associated with caring for their chronic illness has not permitted a rainy day fund. To ask this of anyone is not something we and especially Chris and Anne do lightly, I know their heart is heavy and even sharing this news has been difficult.  Our family is willing to do all that we can to help, and because so many people have reached out to try and help, we are sharing this glimpse into their struggle should it be on  your heart to help as well.
As many of you know, first and foremost we would ask for prayers.  Prayers for strength to endure, for a continued fearless approach to her healthcare because without she would have faltered long before now, and prayers for their family especially Anne and Chris as watching her in pain has been the greatest suffering they, as parents, must endure.
Any funds raised beyond what is needed for the immediate surgery will be set aside as we are told the 2nd transplant is often fraught with additional challenges.  As I mentioned, with her first set of new lungs, Alyssa was extremely active in doing for others!  Her goal is to continue what she started once she is well again.  Please know your donations will go towards this beautiful gift of life for Alyssa, and if there is enough, she will pay it forward!
