Brenda June Burress Funeral expenses

Dear friends and family, back in September 2021, Brenda underwent transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), receiving an evolut prolux implant.

And, when her health would become stable, there needed to be another surgery, a Surgical-based (epicardial) approach: A surgeon creates a small incision in your chest and inserts the lead(s) through that incision, and then attaches the lead(s) to your heart.

Unfortunately, she never received the pacemaker, and after 11 months, complications became more and more frequent, eventually leading to heart failure. On Aug 7, her sister Melinda stated Brenda collapsed in the hallway after mentioning heart pain. Melinda kept her from hitting her head and calling 911.

An ambulance was immediately called for Brenda; paramedics arrived on sean, performing CPR while preparing a defibrillator, shocking her back to life but in critical condition and also sedating her.
She was transported to Lee's Summit Medical Center.
Receiving Temporary transvenous pacing involves two components - obtaining central venous access and intracardiac placement of the pacing wire, a temp pacemaker, and being put on a life support machine and remaining sedated during testing.

On top of all that, after being diagnosed with covid.
Thankfully, covid restrictions were reduced, and we could time with her.

Doctors recommended she slowly be weaned off propofol, a short-acting medication that results in a decreased level of consciousness and a lack of memory for events

On Aug 9, Doctors removed her from sedation, and she was unable to regain consciousness and also unresponsive to touch/pain; unfortunately, Brenda started having seizures having to be put back into sedation.
A meeting took place to discuss the course of action going forth.
The decision is for her to be moved to Overland Park Regional Center to undergo an EEG (electroencephalogram).

The EEG showed a very high likelihood of neurological damage; Brenda had gone without oxygen for quite some time.
As days passed and there was no change, she was taken off sedation every so often, with results mirroring the previous.
Remained ineligible for a full-time pacemaker being in critical condition, so there was no way for her to be able to survive the operation.
Leaving us with the incredibly difficult decision.

Brenda, my mother and our loved one was taken off life support with no assisted breathing and the temporary pacemaker disconnected Friday at 1:00PM 8/19.
After a long battle with heart complications over the past year, Brenda,
Surrounded by loved ones by her side, Brenda continued to breathe and her heart beating for almost 20 hours before she passed away on 08/20/2022 at 9:30 AM
Mom went peacefully in her sleep without pain

I'm deeply saddened to lose a beautiful soul such as my mother
She loved you all so much, even as big-hearted as mom was, it just couldn't keep up with the amount of love she put out in the world.

And we come to you today asking for donations for funeral expenses
unfortunately, Brenda didn't have life insurance.
Her last wishes are to be buried at Bairdtown cemetery next to George & Bonnie, and we're trying to ensure that'll happen.

I'm trying to put in as much time as possible at work, and it isn't easy working through all this. So anything greatly helps; thank you all so much!
