Help Write an INCREDIBLE Story -- The Brenda Lanning Fight Against Inoperable Brain Tumor
It’s hard to fathom a word more feared these days than Covid-19. Sadly, there is one… cancer. Brenda Lanning heard that word spoken to her on October 20, 2020. Still, there are stronger words and powers than both Covid-19 and cancer combined, and Brenda lives by and through them all: FAITH, FAMILY, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, and LOVE.
Brenda has a stage 4 inoperable brain tumor. She is a loving and giving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend. She has a legacy of goodness and unselfishly giving back to her community. She has done so much for others – the homeless, inner city, low-income families, church members, and her own neighborhood Parkinson’s patient – and now, BRENDA NEEDS OTHERS TO HELP HER.
True to the person she is and the love she gives, Brenda took legal guardian of her grandson, Jayson at age 2. Now 17 years old, she and Jayson have forged a bond that is rarely achieved – a blessed and beautiful love and respect for each other. Brenda has provided for, taught, and raised Jayson to be a thriving high school junior with dreams. She even went back to college and obtained her degree in 2019. It took 10 years and long days and sleep-deprived nights as she maintained a full-time job, was literally a full-time single mom of an active boy, and a committed member of her community. And just when it was time to celebrate, cancer came knocking. But Brenda isn’t one to quit. She has much to do and she has always done it, often independently. This time though, she needs others’ kindness… others’ help.
Brenda and her Family believe in God and thus Miracles. As a result, we believe in the goodness of people. We are following faith and asking for any and all help to change the trajectory of Brenda and Jayson’s life.
Your help will go towards the many things that too many persons like Brenda face… building a suit of armor for the fight. Your help will go toward paying mounting medical builds that have no near-term horizon of subsiding. Her salary will drop significantly as it falls to disability pay in January 2021, a time when insurance coverage costs and life and medical obligations are greatest. She needs help to cover mounting medical appointments. She needs help with defraying home care expenses and medications. And, again true to her love, Brenda wants to maintain as normal a life for Jayson as possible, but she can’t afford to pay both fees for his school and extracurricular activities and her care. It should not come to a choice. FAITH, FAMILY, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, and LOVE. Whether alone or together, these virtues create the greatest of things…HOPE.
Please be a part of a miracle movement you will never forget by taking part in writing Brenda’s story. This book is nowhere near its conclusion. We hope you will add a chapter in the unfinished novel that is Brenda Lanning’s Life.
