Brenda Mariscal's Medical Fund

My name is Joshua Mariscal, and Brenda Mariscal is my sister-in-law.
On November 9, 2015 Brenda was involved in an auto pedestrian accident. She was walking home from school, and was struck by a vehicle that rendered her unconscious and sprawled out in the middle of Shunior road. This occurred right across the UTRGV Recreation Center. Fortunately, a man rushed to her aide and called an ambulance. When paramedics arrived, they placed her on a stretcher and drove her to Renaissance Hospital, where she currently resides.
She suffered a broken pelvic bone, a fractured elbow, and a hangman’s fracture. She is now being supported with a neck brace, and is currently unable to sit in an upright position.
However, she is a trooper! Brenda is determined to get back on her feet, and finish out this semester stronger then ever! This will only be possible with the help of family, friends, community, and the UTRGV student body.
Lacking insurance, there is no way that our family can tackle the mountain of medical bills headed our way. That is why we are asking for your help. The money that you donate will go straight towards her rehabilitation, (wheelchair, physical therapy, and medications), and her hospital bills, (blood transfusions, and the numerous surgeries she will undergo).
Brenda did not deserve to be thrust into this horrendous situation. She is an honor student, majoring in Applied Mathematics. She has just one semester left to graduate, but unfortunately won't be able to walk across the graduation stage because she will be slowly recovering. Let's help make that recovery a lot easier.
My family and I will be forever grateful for any contribution you can put forward. We thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers, and we hope that you can find it in your heart to help a sweet young lady who has her entire life in front of her.
Let’s get her back on her feet!
Thank you so much,
Joshua Mariscal
