Brendan Byrne 2nd Cancer Battle

Hi everyone, I am Brendan's sister, Nancy. If you know Brendan, you already know he is a hard-working, generous, kind-hearted soul. Many of you also know that he has had quite a few challenges over time. 13 years ago (February 2011), Brendan was diagnosed with stage 2B Testicular Cancer which came at the end of an extended unemployment period. He was able to survive both the cancer and the financial impact. After Brendan recovered, he worked hard to dig himself out of debt. Almost unbelievably, during the Pandemic, he was again diagnosed with Stage 3C Colorectal cancer (February of 2022).

To say it was a battle is an understatement. He underwent 16 rounds of chemo, 28 rounds of chemo-radiation, an ileostomy and a reversal surgery. It took a full year to treat and the side effects were (and are) many. He is awaiting a disability hearing to determine whether he can receive government assistance. The picture above is with his niece (my daughter, Hope) and the balloon says 'One Tough Cookie'...which he absolutely is. This battle has left him, once again, depleted physically and financially.

Brendan lives with me right now, but expenses remain and he could genuinely use the help. He is very proud and never asks for help, which is why I have begun this campaign with some encouragement from his former coworkers in the union.
