Brenda's Battle Against Cancer

Hello friends,

My name is Liz and I've set up this fundraiser to support my dear friend Brenda Musal in her fight against cancer.

In February, Brenda was diagnosed with well differentiated endometrioid adenocarcinoma of the uterus (uterine cancer). Her doctors scheduled her for a hysterectomy, for which she underwent surgery on April 24th. During surgery it was discovered that she also has cervical cancer. It is Stage 4. The surgeons removed her uterus and ovaries. She remains in the hospital at the University of Iowa to recover from surgery, and will likely be discharged on April 27th (also her birthday!). She will return to Iowa City on May 1st for biopsies to determine where the cancer has spread and her prognosis. Then she will begin her first of three rounds of initial chemotherapy in two weeks.

For those of you who know Brenda well, you are aware of the toughness and resilience of her character. She is eminently kind and generous - and would literally gives her friends her last penny and the shirt off her back if they needed it. But now she needs us! Brenda is unable to work during her treatment and recovery, and could use support for medical expenses and generally to make ends meet. She would never ask for help, but I know she has a great community of friends and family who want to support her. Please give generously to help her beat this!
