Read more about Brenna MacMillan:
Brenna MacMillan grew up in Winchester, Kentucky. She began banjo lessons at the age of 9 with Floyd Faulkner. With musical heritage from her mother, aunt, grandmother and great aunt, she was singing harmonies at an early age with her brother Theo.
Growing up, Brenna was homeschooled along with her 11 siblings, 9 of which are from Liberia, West Africa. This unique environment shaped a distinct love for diverse musical tastes and rhythms.
Brenna played in several bands in and around Winchester and had opportunities to open for J.D. Crowe and Bobby Osborne at the age of 10. In college, Brenna played with the Berea College Bluegrass Ensemble under Al White, who treated the band like a professional touring band. She was able to go on several tours, including an international tour to Denmark and Ireland, while singing lead and playing banjo. After graduating Berea College with a Chemistry degree, concentration in Biochemistry, Brenna moved to Nashville in 2018 and started Theo & Brenna Band with her brother Theo.
Theo & Brenna Band released their first independent record When You Go in 2019 and their second Dreams For Sale with Mountain Fever Records in 2022. They have toured all over the south and continue to play private events.
Brenna has played with a variety of Nashville bands and artists including Amanda Fields, Greg Garing, Brennen Leigh, Hillary Klug, Hannah Juanita, Wyatt Ellis and Paul Kramer. She has made guest appearances and collaborated with several Nashville-based artists and bands on social media, playing and singing bluegrass or country covers and some originals.
