Brennan Gets A Kidney
Donation protected
It gives us great joy to announce that Brennan’s kidney transplant has finally been scheduled for August 22nd, 2022!
Our family, especially Brennan, has overcome so much to get us to this point, and we are overwhelmed with emotions.
Brennan’s battle against Prune Belly Syndrome started at birth. We’ve watched him fight with great courage, tenacity and a cheerful spirit through all the hardships and setbacks. Even before he began peritoneal dialysis around his first birthday, we knew that a transplant would be necessary to sustain him and give him the quality of life he deserves. We had no clue what the road to transplant would look like. It has been filled with much joy and many milestones achieved. But it also came with multiple hospital stays and surgeries, a stroke in 2020 that nearly ended his life and the miracle we watched unfold in Brennan as he worked hard and persevered to overcome all odds.
Despite all this, our family has been on a roller coaster trying to find a kidney for Brennan. Going through several potential living donors and false hopes of deceased donors promised to us. We have kept faith in knowing the perfect kidney would come, and it has. As Brennan’s mom, I couldn’t be more excited about being able to give him life for the second time. My ability to donate has been contingent on my health, and this past year I worked hard to lose 50lbs to be approved. This journey has led to better health for both of us.
We are asking for any support to help us through both surgeries and recoveries. We have already exhausted paid time off with our jobs and will need to take additional time for 4-6 weeks of recovery. All financial contributions will help with medical and everyday expenses, meals and child care for our other children.
We are also selling T-shirts for those who want to show support and help raise awareness for Prune Belly Syndrome and organ donation. You can use this link to purchase a shirt: https://bonfire.com/brennanstrong/
The last six years would not have been possible for us to overcome without the love and support of our friends, family and others who have shown up for us. Your contributions, no matter the size, have touched our hearts, and we are eternally grateful. Thank you.
